The method of acupuncture used has been adapted from traditional acupuncture and is now referred to as western or modern acupuncture. Clinically it incorporates well with physiotherapy, although it can be effectively used as a stand alone therapy.

The diagnosis is based on modern anatomy, physiology and pathology, which is quite different to the diagnosis which is used for traditional acupuncture. However, there is still a strong association with traditional Chinese medicine with regards to the application of the needling.

Acupuncture can be very effective but it does not work for all. There are a few people who are classified as non responders, advice will be given in the consultation as to whether it would benefit your condition.

Acupuncture needling should not be painful, and all needles used are sterile single use and individually packaged.

If you're a blood donor, treatment will not restrict you from giving blood, as a HPC registered physiotherapist, you will only be required to give my name and HPC number.

Electro-Acupuncture uses a small battery operated machine coupled to the needles, low or high frequency impulses are selected for the treatment of muscle spasm, acute and chronic pain. The patient only feels a tingling sensation at the needle site.
